A sustanined Collaboration and Partnership: LGU Jones helps establish Pigmented ReDI Research Center Road Network

The Pigmented Rice Research for Development and Innovation (Pigmented ReDI) in Dibuluan, Jones now has an improved road network, a milestone achieved through the strong collaboration between the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Jones and Isabela State University (ISU) – Jones Campus.

The construction of the road was made possible through the full sponsorship of heavy equipment and workers by the LGU, headed by the ever supportive Municipal Mayor, Hon. Nhel C. Montano, CPA. This is a proof of the LGU’s continuous support for local agricultural research and development initiatives. Moreover, Former Mayor Leticia Sebastian generously facilitated the purchase of gravel and sand at a discounted rate, which ensured lesser expense of the university.

The newly established road network will enhance accessibility to the research center, making the transport of farm produce, research equipment, and materials more convenient. It will also benefit student researchers and partner stakeholders, strengthening the research innovations of the campus.

“This road is a lifeline for our research activities as well as our Income Generating Projects. With better access to Pigmented ReDI, we can deliver innovations while advancing ISU’s vision as a Smart Green University,” said Mr. William Gabriel, RGMO and Center Director.

It is noted that the partnership is further sealed through the support of the Municipal Administrator, Dr. Manuel Cabungcal, Jr.

“This project is more than just a road; it is a symbol of partnership and shared vision for local development,” said Dr. Edgardo B. Sario, Campus Administrator of ISU Jones, as the campus expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the LGU of Jones for their support.

The road development is part of a broader vision to transform the Pigmented ReDI Center into a nationally recognized research hub, contributing to food security, sustainable agriculture, and rural development.

More than just improving access, the new road network reflects Isabela State University’s commitment to its vision of becoming a Smart Green University, where development efforts align with sustainability, innovation, and community partnership.
